How to stop ps4 games from downloading

NavyPharaoh Member. Oct 27, This is what I do. I click the game icon of the PS5 version. It would then tell me to insert the disc to play. I do and the game starts without trying to copy the other version. Or I go to library and launch the game from installed. BloodshotX Member. Jan 25, 1, NavyPharaoh said:. BloodshotX said:. You mean from the ps store? Or do you just insert the game and quickly eject?

Damn it just tried to make me download it again when I turned my console on. Oct 25, 7, This just happened to me with the Miles PS4 disc. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Has to be a major oversight. So if you press x on the icon it starts the PS5 or the PS4 version? Sorry for all the questions lol. Hoping Sony can make this simpler through an update.

Having the same issue but it just occurred to me that you can use the sort option to determine the different versions.

Can you try that? Not close to my console at the moment. Last edited: Nov 15, Oct 29, 6, A little OT but how do you download the free PS5 upgrades? Sep 30, Ps5 needs smart delivery RestEerie Banned. Aug 20, 13, I was wrong, a dirt 5 is doing this shit on my PS5. Keeps downloading the PS4 version in the background. Absolutely stupid. Thought I had to copy the disc and then update it to the PS5 version. Instead, I should've just clicked on the PS Store icon on the right side of the screen that directly downloads the PS5 version.

If everything works like it's supposed to you'll only ever see the PS5 version icon in the UI. So wait,,, you get a pop up when you put the disk in the ps5? So its not like on ps4 and in auto installs if you put the disk in the system? OK, I did a little testing and the problem seems to be strictly with restarting or turning on the PS5 with the disc already inside. They just need to tweak the firmware a bit to change the order of things. My guess is when you power on it spins the disc up and starts to copy before checking if the PS5 version is already installed.

That's how mine is acting now anyway. I'd be interested to hear if anyone's experiencing something different. Nope, no auto-install. How it worked for me was the first time you put the PS4 disc in, the game information screen comes up with options to copy or to download the PS5 version.

Cyber Akuma Zero posted Absolutely nothing, it seems. DarkSymbiote posted If it isn't installed on your HDD then the system won't try to download an update. So I don't know who you are trying to fool right now.
