I have used avast in the past and its a great program so wanted to use it again as a virus program but it will not get past what seems like the loading screen. Always get the same problem. I run as administrator, click ok to allow the install and then it the installer not the computer just sits and does nothing. I've tried rebooting many times, i downloaded ccleaner and ran it, that has not worked, no other programs are running, i've disabled windows defender, nothing seems to work.

If I end the process from the task manager and retry it comes up saying the installation is already running please try again later. I can click to see the log but there is nothing in the log file. After ive done this i can close it and then the installation file pops up in the task manager and i can end that process then try again or reboot and try again then it just happens again.

I should note the I can still use the computer and do anything else on it and it still works and is unaffected, but the avast install box just sits there with the animated bar continuously moving.

Any help would be appreciated as I do like avast, have used it in the past and would like to be able to use it again. Have you entered that in the Update Connections , Proxy Mobile Security. Just a comment that I have received a report that one of the folks I support who is also on dial-up is having difficulties getting the update - an issue not encountered before. It seems it is some form of cannot get to the server. I was guessing that there may be some level of server overload.

I have asked him to just wait a while before trying again. I haven't seen any change in my getting VPS updates on dial-up, my only issue was a period if intermittent forum slowdown, unrelated to the update servers.

Of course, I rather suspect that we on the left coast of the US are using different servers from folks in the UK. Quote from: alanrf on January 22, , PM. Thanks DavidR. Onspeed does use a proxy. I will try altering the settings in Update Connections. This will save me trying to remember to turn off Onspeed next time there is a program update - Onspeed has no trouble with iAVS updates.

The new program update is working fine as usual. Zoart Jr. Member Posts: Quote from: Asyn on February 27, , PM. Quote from: Zoart on February 27, , PM. Win 8. IBC [UI. I've had such problem.
